Powered Paraglider - this one has flown over the farm at least twice in the last few weeks. It strikes me as a bit crazy, but for five to ten grand and with no license you can fly one. I say you, not me - I don't even like stepladders and haven't been in a real airplane in about 20 years.

Mallard - Anas platy- rhynchos - male - preens himself standing in the shallows of the lake at Kaercher Creek Park.

Green-Winged Teal - Anas crecca - male - swims close to shore while the much larger Mallards and a Canada Goose venture a bit farther from the shore of a pond on Woodland Road in Windsor Township. This was my first confirmed sighting of any Teal.

Ring-Billed Gull - Larus delawarensis - drives away a Killdeer - Charadrius vociferus - from its chosen bit of the shoreline at Kaercher Creek Park.

Ring of Bright Water - I'm not sure I ever really understood the significance of the title of Gavin Maxwell's classic book about the events of his life with his pet otter Mijbil until I noticed this ring left when a river otter I was observing on the Maidencreek dove below the surface. If you were moved by the more recent book and movie Life with Marley, you might want to check out this story which was also made into a film.

Hooded Mergansers - Lophodytes cucullatus - was a new species for me when I spotted these on the Maidencreek at Lenhartsville on the 10th of March.

Ring-Billed Gulls - Larus delawarensis - at Tilden Industrial Park. Not a perfect photo - handheld and lighting less than optimum - but I liked that there are four of them close together in different positions.

Ring-Billed Gulls - Larus delawarensis - feeding here on the farm. They have been all over the area for a couple weeks. I even got a photo of one with a fish in its mouth at Kaercher Creek Park, but the quality wasn't good enough to share.

Canada Geese - Branta canadensis - in flight in early morning a few weeks ago.

Free Bridge from Phillipsburg, NJ to Easton, PA. Unlike the US-22 bridge a few blocks north and the I-78 bridge just south of the cities, this one doesn't charge tolls for the privilege of leaving New Jersey.

Four horsepower manure spreader - I snapped this while following my newly-acquired D8H to our favorite tracked vehicle mechanic. It seems odd that some of our best mechanics are members of one or another of the German pietist sects whose members don't even drive cars and trucks.

In the grip of winter - just eight weeks ago,the Maidencreek was frozen over, solid enough on some days for people to walk on it.
