Snow - a bit thin on the fields, but apparent even on the Blue Mountain in the distance.

First winter for this kitten and it doesn't quite know what to make of this ice and snow covering most of the lovely grass it used to play in.

European Starlings - Sturnus vulgaris - perched on an ice-coated branch of an evergreen. A sign of the perfectly beastly weather we have been enjoying with the onset of winter in Pennsylvania.

Perpetual sadness seems to be the expression of this cat - something to do with the way its face is marked, but I can't quite say just what features give it that impression.

Quiet time shared by the same two cats seen playing below.

Big cats - but not too old to play at fighting like kittens.

Indignance at having their private moment captured seems to be the meaning of the look these two cats gave me recently. The nice thing about photographing cats rather than people is that cats can't sue you if they object to the inquiring eye of the camera.

Fog clinging to the ground under heavy cloud cover captures something of the dampness of this autumn. Rain and snow have come with great regularity over the last few weeks, moisture that is welcome, but would have been even more appreciated in July and August.

Snow Geese - Chen caerulescens - maybe? The identification of these four swimming in the old mill pond on the Maiden Creek at Lenhartsville has me a bit puzzled. The darker two appear to be immature specimens of grey morph Snow Geese. The two white ones, however, could be Snow Geese or Ross's - the distance and the fact they were swimming away fairly fast makes it hard to be certain, but I still lean toward Snow Goose as an identification for them as well.

Running cat caught rather well in mid stride, if I do say so myself.

Autumn foliage takes on a certain warmth when lit by late afternoon sun angling in under overcast skies in this view from my front door.

Crescent Moon with Venus below and Jupiter on the right as seen at 7:15 PM on 1 December from Windsor Township, Berks County. This was taken hand-held with my Sony A700 DSLR steadied against the window of my vehicle. Lens was a 75-300 zoom with a 2X teleconverter, both by Quantaray.

Snow falling on a recent visit to the the pond at Tilden Industrial Park. We have already had a few snows that managed to stick on the ground for a few hours and several days marked by flurries, so it looks like the predictions for a hard winter here might come true.
