Black Swallowtail - Papilio polyxenes - male - has perhaps the most stunning appearance of any of the large swallowtails seen in this region. This and most of my photos from here on will come from my new camera, a Sony A700 DSLR. It has much higher resolution and sensitivity than the Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D I have been using for about two years. Since they take the same lenses, I can now carry one with a telephoto zoom and the other with a wide angle zoom for times when I want to make a quick lens switch, either because time is short or the environment is too damp or dusty to risk opening up the interior of a camera to contamination.
