Pipevine Swallowtail - Battus philenor - another new entry on my life list this week. I have for some time now tried to develop the habit of never leaving the house without my camera and I was glad I had it today. At about 5:00 PM, Saturday, I was leaving Fairlane Village Mall with a computer that had been repaired and upgraded and I saw a butterfly flitting along the edge of the parking lot. I stopped, jumped out with the camera and started shooting, following the butterfly as it moved along the edge of the parking lot, going from flower to flower. My first impression was that it was another Spicebush, but when I got home and looked at the images full-screen on the computer it was obvious that I had found a species I never saw before.
