Contrasting colors of the flowers add interest to this otherwise rather ordinary view of a female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail - Papilio glaucus. Click on the image for the full-screen view and you can see good detail of the structure of the legs; also note the curved antennae which are characteristic of the large swallowtail species in this area and quite distinct from the clubbed appearance of the antennae of other true butterflies.
