Wood Ducks - Aix sponsa - are the dominant species of waterfowl at the Tilden Industrial Park this year, although some other ducks, and on this day (13 September) a single Canada Goose, share the space along with waders including Great Blue Heron and Killdeer. Here we see a brightly colored male and several females which, being of an age to remember such things, reminds me of that line in the musical Hair about about man reclaiming "the gaudy plumage which is the birthright of his sex."
